WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGULAR AND SYNTHETIC OIL? Conventional motor oil is refined from crude oil, while synthetic motor oil is man-made using chemical compounds designed to feature the best aspects of crude oil. As a result, synthetic oil features fewer contaminants, which leads to a lower risk of engine sludge and buildup. As a result of being cleaner and more refined, synthetic motor oil will flow better (higher viscosity) regardless of the temperature of the engine.
Synthetic motor oil does not break down nearly as fast as conventional motor oil. So while you may be used to changing your oil every 3,000 miles or so with conventional oil, you’ll likely only need to replace your synthetic oil about once every 6,000-7,500 miles! Synthetic motor oil is just better for your vehicle. In fact, many vehicles are now manufactured featuring engines that require synthetic motor oil.
WHY DOES IT MATTER WHAT TYPE OF OIL I USE? Motor oil lubricates and cools your engine, therefore it is pretty important when it comes to the overall operation of your vehicle’s engine. Motor oil that is low quality or is dirty and old will not be able to properly lubricate the many moving parts of your engine, leaving it susceptible to overheating or having further damage. The higher the quality of the oil and the more frequently it is changed, the better. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY OIL CHANGED? You should refer to your owner's manual for your proper oil change interval. If you drive a 2008 or newer, the oil change indicator system will alert you when you need to change your oil. Vehicles built prior to 2008 follow a 3-month 5,000 km oil change interval.
HOW DOES THE OIL CHANGE INDICATOR SYSTEM ALERT YOU? Depending how your vehicle is equipped, the oil change indicator system can display various messages (change oil soon / change oil now) and will indicate the percentage of oil life remaining.
A fixed oil change indicator system was first introduced in the 2008 model year and is similar to the new variable oil change indicator system introduced for the 2013 model year. Advancements in engine design, engine oil formulation, and vehicle electronics allow for the extension of engine oil change intervals. These advancements reduce the environmental impact of oil changes and help reduce ownership and maintenance costs.
CAN REGULAR OIL CHANGES IMPROVE MY GAS MILEAGE? Absolutely. Engine oil filters suspend dirt, metal particles and sludge, allowing only clean oil to circulate through the engine. Clean oil also contributes to better fuel economy. Mopar filters are designed using FCA engineering specifications, which mean they help maintain peak engine efficiency and performance. Also, no matter what make or model your vehicle is, we can change the oil right here.
