2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs 2021 Toyota Highlander: Performance paired with luxury
March 30 2021,
There are multiple options for consumers looking for a mid-size SUV. Two of those options, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2021 Toyota Highlander are among the most popular in their segment. The Grand Cherokee and the Highlander are both focused on providing exceptional comfort to consumers and also offering plenty of interior space. The main difference between the Jeep and the Toyota can be found under the hood and in the overall performance that each model delivers.
A lot more power and capacity in the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Both the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2021 Toyota Highlander are powered by a base V6 engine. That said, the V6 in the Grand Cherokee delivers 295 horsepower along with 260 pound-feet of torque which enables it to tow over 6,000 lbs. The Toyota Highlander also has a base V6, but it cannot tow more than 5,000 lbs. The major difference here is that while the Highlander cannot tow more, that Grand Cherokee is just getting started. Its total maximum towing capacity is rated at 7,280 lbs, giving it the highest towing capacity in the segment.
Also, the V6 engine in the Highlander is the most powerful engine you can get in that line up. In the Grand Cherokee, it is just the base engine. Also available is a legendary 5.7 litre V8 engine that delivers 360 horsepower along with 390 lb-ft torque. Then you have two other V8 engines which deliver 475 horsepower and 707 horsepower respectively.
Not only is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee more powerful than the 2021 Toyota Highlander, it is also more affordable. The base price may be the same, but when you look at what you get in terms of interest rates and financing rates as well as discounts, you're going to pay a lot less for a Jeep Grand Cherokee then you will for a Toyota Highlander despite the power difference.
