Why buy a 2023 Ram 1500 over a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado?

If you're in the market for a full-size pickup truck, the choices are both limited and incredible. In fact, only four manufacturers offer this type of model, Toyota, Ford, Ram and Chevrolet/GMC.

It's agreed that the three main players are on the American side and that the two offering the most improved vehicles in recent years are Ram and Chevrolet. So it's one of these models that you have to turn to for complete satisfaction, but which one?

Comfort

Pickups are more comfortable than ever today, but if that's the case, you have to give Ram a shout-out. It was Ram that introduced the idea of an independent coil-spring suspension in the rear, and then an air suspension. With a pickup truck, it's always nice to have a powerful and capable V8 powertrain. Good V8 engines can be found on both sides, but when comparing similar models, more capability is found on Ram. The base V8 on each side demonstrates this well. Chevrolet offers a 5.3-liter block with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. With a Ram, the first V8 you'll find is the famous 5.7-liter Hemi that delivers 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Moving up the lineup, you may find a 6.2-liter engine capable of delivering 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque at Chevrolet, but that's nothing compared to the 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque delivered by Ram's 6.2-liter supercharged V8 block.

Towing capacity

Finally, maximum towing capacity is higher at Ram at 12,750 pounds. That's about 750 more than Chevrolet. It may not be much, but in use, and with a more powerful engine under the hood, it means everything is easier in a Ram.
