Three reasons to buy a 2021 Ram 1500 instead of a 2021 Ford F-150

The 2021 Ram 1500 and 2021 Ford F-150 are fighting an uphill battle to capture the hearts of truck enthusiasts who seek power, capability, comfort, equipment and reliability. Redesigned this year, the 2021 Ford F-150 is a hot topic. The Ram 1500, meanwhile, continues its journey with all the elements that have dictated its success so far.

The 2021 Ram 1500 is considered the best everyday truck by experts. It’s also AJAC’s Truck of the Year. It's a truck that offers impressive capabilities, but also best suited for family trips and those days when you don't necessarily need your truck's full capacity. That, and the three elements that follow, are a few reasons why you should consider the 2021 Ram 1500 versus the 2021 Ford F-150.

The power of the engines

The 2021 Ford F-150 has plenty of new engines, but the 2021 Ram 1500 continues to dominate the power battle.

Let's take a quick comparison by taking a look at the engines that compete directly.

Diesel

The 2021 Ram 1500's entry-level diesel engine is the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel which delivers 260 horsepower and the best torque in the segment (480 lb-ft) which translates into an exceptional towing capacity of 12,560 lbs. The 2021 Ford F-150's diesel engine offers 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque for a towing capacity of 12,100 lb.

V8 engine

The HEMI 5.7-liter V8 is an industry legend. It offers 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque in its base version, but with the addition of the eTorque system it can deliver up to 540 lb-ft of torque. That's quite a bit more than the 2021 Ford F-150's 5.0-liter V8 that delivers 410 lb-ft of torque.

Entry-level engine

Standard, the 2021 Ram 1500's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 delivers 310 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque compared to 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque for the 2021 Ford F-150.

Value

Engine horsepower is one thing, but how much you pay for it is another. For the V8 engine for example, you can get one for less than $ 40,000 in the Ram 1500 Classic while the 2021 Ford F-150 requires at least $ 45,000. Plus, you can get more equipment for less in all versions of the Ram 1500. Note that the Ford F-150 is new and when we say new we mean higher interest rates and less discounts.

But the 2021 Ram 1500 gives you better discounts and lower interest rates, making it more affordable.

Safety and luxury

The comfort and luxury of the 2021 Ram 1500 is certainly one element that sets the Ram 1500 apart. Whether it is in terms of craftsmanship, the equipment available such as the imposing vertical central screen or the comfort and silence of the road on the road, the Ram 1500 2021 stands out from the Ford F-150, even in its redesigned version.

In addition, the 2021 Ram 1500 remains the only truck in its class today to be named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.
