2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Three things that are better in the new Grand Cherokee

Unveiled back in November, the all new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the latest generation of one of the most popular mid-size sport-utility vehicles in the world. Based on the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L which we saw last year, the new generation of the Grand Cherokee improves just about everything about the Jeep SUV while also maintaining and preserving everything that has made it so popular in recent years.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee remains one of the most capable vehicles off the beaten path, and one of the most versatile vehicles as well. It retains its impressive luxury and wide range of features, but the new generation gets a host of improvements inside and out that make it simply better and the best ever Grand Cherokee.  Here are three things that are better in the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The interior

The interior is the first thing you will notice when you get inside the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. More specifically, you will notice how the dashboard and centre console have been vastly improved with more technology. Base models get an 8.4-in center touchscreen while a 10.1-inch touchscreen is available as well.  You can also get a 10-inch head up display as well as another 10.3-inch display located in front of the passenger. A digital gauge cluster is also part of the package.

This gives the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee better functionality while also making it a lot more fun to use. There isn't another midsize SUV in this segment that gives you more technology.

The technology

Everything has been upgraded on the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. There’s more technology inside, and this technology houses the latest systems from Jeep including the new UConnect 5 infotainment system, one of the best in the business. You also get improved safety technology including standard Adaptive Cruise Control, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring, and more.

How it drives

There have been a lot of subtle improvements made to the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. There is more aluminum across the structure and more high-strength steel as well. You find aluminum in the subframe cradle as well as the front and rear suspension. This makes the Grand Cherokee roughly 250 lb lighter than the previous model. Back to the suspension, it has also been improved to offer better handling and better comfort. You will notice this on the road.

A standard 3.6 L V6 delivers 293 horsepower while an optional 5.7 litre Hemi V8 delivers 357 horsepower. These engines carry over from the previous Grand Cherokee, but because the vehicle is lighter and more rigid, performance is improved. You can still tow up to 7,200 lb with the V8.
